Why is discipline important?

Dec 19, 2021
Tennis is a sports discipline. Discipline is one of the most important and useful skills that everyone could possess. Even though we all know of its importance, not too many people work on improving it.

Discipline is present on many areas of our lives, it is a close companion of consistency and perseverance in the journey to mastery.

Discipline is the STANDARD you put for yourself. It is what makes you turn your SHOULDS into MUSTS. Musts become habits, and we end up being a truthful reflection of our daily habits and rituals.

“Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement”
Discipline helps you choose when you need to do the things that are uncomfortable and stick with them. A big component of progress is exploring the world outside of our comfort zone and getting used to it, creating new and better habits and feeling comfortable with it. Like a Navy Seal friend of mine used to say, “feeling comfortable being uncomfortable”
To discipline your mind is fundamental that you sharp your focus instead of being mentally disperse. An unfocused mind will lead to unfocused actions and behaviors.

Your environment (people and places) influences as well your levels of self demand, what you ask from yourself.

We need to learn how to prioritize and think before acting!! This will require to delay gratification and learn to wait for the reward. Earning the right to feel good later, putting the work and patience into a future event.

I hear a lot of people saying that they don’t have self confidence. Being disciplined, and mastering the art of knowing how to invest on something for a reward in the future, can plant the seeds of self confidence, inner strength and self worth.
